Robert Michels’ Iron Law of Oligarchy says that all forms of democratic organizations evolve into oligarchs because power gets concentrated into individuals. Marx’s says that history repeats itself. First as a tragedy and the second time as farce. Could that mean that the English revolution which establish a constitutional monarchy be the tragedy and the US revolution which established a constitutional democracy be the farce? If we’ve had the tragedy and we now see the farce for what it is, what’s next?
